Emma McGee Obituary

Today, we celebrate the life of our beloved Emma Jean McGee. She was born December 18, 1938 in Montgomery County, Mississippi.  She was the daughter of the late Claude and Ola Mae Bailey.  She professed her faith in Christ at a young age at Spring Hill M. B. Church, Spring Hill, Mississippi and later joined Haven United Methodist Church; Winona, Mississippi.  She went home to our heavenly father on February 4, 2018 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital; Greenwood, Mississippi.

Emma Jean McGee the wife of David McGee was a strong active mother, grandmother, and Christian.  She immersed herself in the activities of family, community, and especially Haven United Methodist Church.  She really loved the church and doing God's work.  She attended Sunday School and church services regularly.

She was a great educator, counselor, teacher, and a Sunday School Teacher.  Her joyful and giving spirit touched all who was fortunate enough to have known her.  She loved working, watching TV, cooking, quilt making, sewing and canning.  She taught in the Montgomery County Public Schools forty-one years, ST. Francis Of Assis School four years and worked at Walmart, Winona, Mississippi, twenty-two years.  Her "gifts" and words alone will truly be cherished by us all.

She leaves to cherish her memory; a loving and devoted husband of forty years, David McGee, two adoring sons, Charles Frederick Applewhite (Franklin, Kentucky), David Bibbs (Indianapolis, Indiana); one dedicated daughter Emerald McGee (Winona, Mississippi); Five sisters and Five brothers, Lottie (Eddie) Alexander of Chesapeake, Virginia, Claudette (Leonard) Ross of Memphis, Tennessee, Floyd (Carlee) Bailey of Itta Bena, Mississippi, James (Ester) Bailey of Greenwood, Mississippi, Margarette (Richard) Fluker of Greenwood, Mississippi, Mary (Kenneth) Roberts of Fisher, Indiana, Catherine (Thomas) Brandi of Alvanton, Kentucky, Travis (Judy) Bailey of Carrollton, Alabama, Raymond (Josephine) Bailey of Winona, Mississippi and Frank Cecil Bailey of Chicago Illinois and an aunt George Ella Bliuett.

She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
