Jimmie “Billy” Austin of Winona, MS was born June 6, 1946 to the late Mr. Jimmie Austin, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Mae Powell Austin.
Mr. Austin transitioned to be with His Lord and Savior on May 31, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Jimmie accepted his Lord and Savior at an early age. Growing up in Winona he attended the public school system. Smart, talented, adventurous and having a zest for life, Jimmie (also known as “Shiek”) developed an eye for detail and a copious amount of knowledge on a wide variety of things that included gardening, fishing and hunting. He was loved by many and well respected within the community. He showed an abundance of love to his close friends and family.
“Billy” was a quiet and reserved man who traveled the country for his profession as a painter and construction worker. While living in St. Louis, MO, he met and courted Ms. Bridget Davis and eventually got married in September 1980. Mr. Austin was a devoted, thoughtful, loving and caring husband and father to his wife and children.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children: Mrs. Tameia M. (T.J.) Bryant of Cheasepake, VA, Ms. Sagena E. Austin (Terry Harris) of Southhaven, MS and Mr. Jimmie T. Austin of Olive Branch, MS; six grandchildren: La’Detrius, William, Michearyan, Kenterrius, William and La’Terrius; six siblings: Mr. Maude (Edna) Austin of Chicago, IL, Ms. Earletha Austin of Muncie, IN, Mr. Willie Austin of St. Louis, MO, Mr. Fred Austin of Chicago, IL, Mrs. Shirley (General) Brown of Muncie, IN, and Lonnie Austin. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and a multitude of family and friends who loved him.
