OBITUARY
The Life of Mrs. Laura Mae Henson
"If we could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made us smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of our hands."
Laura Mae Winfrey Henson was born May 3, 1922 to the late Alonzo and Ida G. Hearon Winfrey in Kilmichael, Mississippi.
She Departed this life on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at her home on Winfrey Road, Kilmichael, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hosea Henson and one son, Joseph Henson.
Laura's christian training was in a nurtured home. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church
in Kilmichael, Mississippi until her departure.
On November 9, 1941, Laura united in holy matrimony to Hosea Henson and to this union eight (8) children were born.
Laura faithfully served on the usher board at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, and she taught Sunday school for many years. Teaching and helping children learn about God's word was her passion.
She worked as a food service supervisor in the Montgomery County School District for over 20 years.
Laura adored working in her garden, cooking, canning, sewing, and spending quality time with her family, neighbors and friends.
Laura leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, Mary Gary (Sam) deceased, Chicago, Il; Ann (Bob) Knight of Dallas, TX; Ida (Cal) Cagnolatti of Plano, TX; Hosea Lee (Katherine) Henson of Kilmichael, MS; Hazel (Otha) Sawyer of Memphis, TN; Lee Wayne (Carolyn) Henson of Toledo, OH; Claria Henson (Joseph) deceased of Kilmichael, MS; and Cedric Henson of Kilmichael, MS; twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; one sister Maggie Winfrey Ganner of Columbia, SC; one brother, Joseph N. (Connie) Winfrey of Gary, IN; one sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Campbell, of Kilmichael, MS. Also left to celebrate her passing are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
