LAURA DAVIS Obituary

Laura Norwood Davis, known to some as (Annie Laura) was born October 23, 1943, to the union of Percy and Charlie Pauline Lott Norwood in Carroll County.

 

 

She attended the Carroll County Schools, graduating from Marshall High School in 1963. She furthered her education at Alcorn State University with a B.S in Business Education and Special Education Certification from MVSU. She taught school in Thomastown and Montgomery Counties and Financial Aid Counselor at MVSU.

 

 

 

She was an active member of Helm Chapel CME Church, serving as Church Secretary, Trustee, Missionary Society and Board of Christian Education. First Black Female to be elected to serve on the Carroll County School Board, First to be name School Board Member of the year for the state of Mississippi. Lifetime member of MAE, NAACP, Carroll Development Association, and Theta Pi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

 

 

 

She finished this chapter of her life on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
