Reflections of Life
Mary J. Blocker Weeks was born September 10, 1931 in Carroll County, MS to the late Janie Kirkwood and Clinton Weeks. She became interested in knowing the Lord at an early age and united with the Vaiden Friendship Baptist Church. After moving to Detroit she united with the church there where she served on the Usher Board and was a 33rd Degree Eastern Star. As soon as she relocated back to Mississippi, she restored her membership back to Vaiden Friendship where she remained faithfully until her health failed. She attended school in the Carroll County School District.
Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Eula Blocker. Mrs. Blocker was blessed with one son, Joseph C. Kimes who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her Mother and Father, Janie and Clinton Weeks, 2 sisters: Lorena Weeks Owens and Louise Weeks Williams, and 2 brothers: Leroy Weeks and Clinton Weeks, Jr.
Mary enjoyed life, she enjoyed friends and family, and she loved her church. Before her health failed, she enjoyed traveling from Detroit and Vaiden.
Mrs. Blocker left a legacy for her family to follow. To follow this legacy are her 2 sisters, Lucinda Weeks Gates of Detroit, Michigan and Audrey Weeks Riley of Vaiden, and one (1) brother, Will (Joyce) Weeks of Vaiden. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Cornelius Brown of Detroit, Michigan, Lashanda Howard of Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada and Joseph Pierce of Winslow, Ontario Canada, 2 friends: Kattie Ellis and Willie Hawthorne, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
