A Reflection of Life

Mary Matthews was born February 2, 1947 in Carroll County, Mississippi to the late Mary Elease and James Henry Matthews.  Also preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Matthews, sister, Betty Branch and her great granddaughter, KeAla Matthews.

Mary accepted Christ into her life at an early age and later joined Pleasant Green Church.  Mary graduated from Jackson State University and became an elementary teacher at Marshall Elementary School.  Mary retired in 2005 with 33 years in education.

Mary Matthews departed this life on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory two (2) daughters: Deborah Matthews and Melinda Walker and one (1) son, Thomas F. Matthews (Kyla); Seven (7) grandchildren: Andrei Mikhail, Devin, Thomisha, Thomas, Jasmine, Jarvis and Mary; three (3)  great grandchildren: Zaylen, KeAndrei and Kelijah;  two (2) sisters: Bonnie Johnson (George) and Beverly Matthews and two (2) brothers: Henry Mathews (Jacqueline) and Tommie Brandon (Betty) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
