Mr. Paul Ivry Brantley, Sr was the first born and only son of four children to the union of the late Ivory and Blanche Brantley on October 14, 1931, in Eupora, MS. He attended Webster County Training School and later earned a welding certificate at the Golden Triangle Vocational Technical School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1952. During this time, he served several tours including the Korean Conflict Era, Germany, Panama Canal, Okinawa-Japan, Hawaii, Vietnam Era and Peacetime Reserves. After faithfully serving his country, he retired SFC-E7 after 22 years. He was awarded distinguished honors and medals such as special clearance for duties, jungle expert, sharpshooter, trainer for troops and drill sergeant. Paul was no stranger to hard work. He had a diverse work history to include: Mersman, Ingall’s Shipyard, General Tire and Ackerman Steel Mill. Subsequently, he began his entrepreneurship, Brantley’s Lawn Service as a landscaper. He was known for his excellent landscaping skills over the greater Mississippi area beautifying Medical Clinics, North MS Medical Centers, Tillman Eye Clinics and numerous residential properties. He continued to work vigorously until September 2018 at the age of 86. Paul was well known for the love of automobiles, especially his Chevrolet trucks which he kept in pristine condition. He loved people, never met a stranger and spent countless hours talking and drinking coffee wherever he went. He had a passion for telling jokes, telling his old war stories and reading the newspaper. He had a distinct love for his grandchildren, and he referred to his great grands as his ancestors.
