Philip James Pate Jr. was born December 20, 1951, to Mr. Philip J. Pate Sr. who preceded him in death and Willie Johnson Pate, in Carroll County, MS. He was called "James" by many. He was the oldest of three siblings, one brother preceded him in death; Elijah.
James attended the Black Hawk Elementary School and later graduated from Vaiden High School in 1970. Later he was married to Doris J. Freeman for many years. To this union three children were born. Scarlett, Dabriel, and Jamesha.
James was a smart and ambitious person. He always believed in working hard, caring for his family, and staying in touch with God along the way. For that, he was blessed to be employed with Greyhound Bus Lines in Memphis, TN for several years until his health failed. Being as driven as always, he later started his own Bar-B-Que business. He enjoyed serving people and talking about his homemade B-B-Que sauce, ribs, chitterlings, pig ears, and Chicago style polish sausages. James enjoyed his friends and family.
James was called home to our Heavenly Father on October 7,2017, at 7:30a.m. He loved God and never forgot His spiritual teachings.
James leaves to cherish all his love to: His loving mother Willie Lou Pate; his wife Doris Pate; three children, Scarlett Pate, Dabriel Pate, and Jamesha Pate; three grandchildren, Jhordun Stafford, Julius Pate, and Chloe Pate; two sisters, Mary Townsend and Martha Jones; a special and devoted cousin/ brother, Robert "Billy" Blackmon. And a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom all loved him very much.
