To Darla and Carla, your mom, the entire Herrod family, the Ware family, along with all of those who loved and cherished Nita: you are certainly thought of and being prayed for by me and many who knew Nita and are left with very fond memories of her. I especially love those memories from way back in the days when we were youngsters and she played softball at the park for many teams including the Wildcats. She was a delight and I looked up to her.

She served as my children's principal at Leflore County Elementary where she has a genuine passion for the children and they all loved her. I was fortunate enough to once be a neighbor and student of Coach Herrod. She was nothing less than amazing, genuine and caring. She often spoke words of encouragement and shunned boys(lol) while encouraging education. To hear of her passing was devastating, because it's currently rare for this world to breath life into people like her. She really cared for people, especially young women. We have definitely lost someone who can never be replaced. My condolences to her entire family! Rest on Soror!

I couldn’t believe the news of Nita’s passing. I, along with the Class of 83 grieve with you. I remember the band days and the basketball days. Nita was full of jokes and laughs always. Even though she always made others laugh, when it came to business, she was all about business. Just reading the Facebook posts, I know she inspired a lot of people/youth..... All to have fun, yet do the best you can when it counts the most....You will truly missed classmate....until we meet again!

Mrs. Herrod/Ware was in my life and the lives of alot of kids through out her teaching career. She was Class of 2001 from day 1. I got pregnant in 10 grade and she was one of the teachers who let me know that my life was not over. When it came to relationships and i thought the world was ending, she let me know life goes on this is a mild stepping stone and that i had pkenty more to come acsross. She was Kool, headstrong, firm, and one of our mothers while at school. I just saw her when i was registering my kids at school and she said her come CANDACE SPELLS Children. She was just funny and great to be around, she will be Missed. Rest on ❤💋

To my neighbor, classmate and childhood friend, I will always remember our growing up together. You were the class clown, the entertainment of the class. Our rides on Sunday going to church were enjoyable. I will never forget when your mom (Ms Dot) let you drive us back home from church. That was awesome and inspirational for me.
